He is really starting to put on some weight. We found out today that he weighs 8 lbs, 4 oz and is 21 1/4" long. I knew he was getting bigger because he's growing out of the newborn size diapers. Luckily we're just about out of them.
Several people have asked how Samantha does with him and she hardly every pays him any attention. We did catch her trying to get him to hold her fingers but that's about it. We have to tell her to give him a kiss at bedtime otherwise she just breezes over him.
Samantha has become quite independent. I feel it's great unless I"m in a hurry then I get frustrated with it. She choose to dress herself if possible, take of her pj's, etc. She tries to do anything she can. She has recently accomplished learning how to load and get the DVD to play and turn on her CD in her room. This was a progression of several people showing her different steps and she's now put it all together so she is quite independent.
It's hard to believe our little girl is going to turn two this week! We started the celebration last night (Sunday night) with a small party at our house with a monkey theme as we often call her our monkey and she loves them. I fixed a simple meal for some friends and we celebrated with cake and ice cream. The cake was awesome! We had our friend Maria make it and she came up with the design all by herself. It was delicious chocolate cake with chocolate chips and banana filling. Yuuummmmm! Back to the celebration...we decorated the house with balloons and a couple of monkeys and outside on the deck with a few balloons. We ended the evening on the deck as we gave Samantha a sandbox for her birthday. The girls had a good time playing in it last night and I'm sure they'll be lots more play time with it during the summer months.
We love our daughter so much and are so thankful for her. We laugh at her antics almost daily, especially what she says (she said "yesterday" this week). It's incredible to see her little mind work and put things together. We are excited about the future with her and are thankful God blessed us with her.
