2 Weeks

This week we've done several things including going to the post office (thanks everyone for the packages!) and visiting the Methodist Church where I used to work. Sabbath was the "big" day as we took her to Sabbath School with us. She looked great in her little sailor dress.

Admittedly its fun to see people oooh and ahhh over her. It makes me proud to take her out.

She is much more alert this week but is still working on the sleeping thing. She tends to fight sleep something terrible and has her days and nights slightly mixed up. All in good time, right?

1 Week Old

As many new parents have already attested, the first week goes by fast. We can’t believe Samantha is already 1 week old!

We’ve learned a lot this week. We are no pros yet but we are working at it. Her Dad has simply jumped right in with a hands on approach to her. He has truly fallen head over heals with her and is extremely sensitive to her. It killed him to have her bilirubin checked as she was screaming at the top of her lungs. When he walks in at night it’s no longer about her Mom but it’s all about Samantha.

Her favorite position is in her Dad’s chest while she’s sleeping. She falls right asleep listening to his heartbeat and all snuggled up warm against his chest.

She had to have her bilirubin checked a couple of times being that it was a bit high when we left the hospital on Wednesday but after checking it on Friday and Saturday she was declared o.k. On her first doctor visit on Friday was weighed 6 lbs, 13 oz but on Saturday she had gained a couple of ounces back.

We did have a couple of rough nights and have learned that she isn’t a very sound sleeper but we are working on all of that.

We are very proud of our beautiful girl and are enjoying every minute we spend with her and every new thing she does.

Baby Renfro

We are proud to announce the birth of our first child, Samantha Nicole Renfro. What a day it has been. It started last night while I (Travis) was working. I did not get home until 3:00 AM. As I walked through the door, Heidi was on the couch watching TV. Oh no I thought. We were planning on going to the hospital in the morning anyway. But to see her on the couch as I walked in the door put me on edge. After my shower, we packed our bags and headed to the hospital. We walked through the door around 5:00 AM. Six hours later Samantha was born. April 10, 2006 at 11:07 a.m. She weighs 7 lbs 9 oz and is 19 ¾ inches long and has a bit of light brown hair. It’s been very surreal for the first few hours. Here are a few pictures to view. Enjoy. Oh, by the way, she is not allowed to date until she is on her own.

Week 39

Yes, week 39 and still no baby. I think our friends and family our more on edge than Travis and I are. We just keep plugging away with life as usual until the little one gets here.

Last Monday I was still 2 centimeters dilated but I was 100% effaced and a +1 station (the baby is moving lower and lower). I think that if I had wanted to, my doctor would have induced me last week. I am really not a big fan of induction so am hoping to hold out until the baby comes naturally. I do have another appointment this afternoon that should shed some more light as to where we are headed from here.

Friday was my last day of work and the employees had gathered together to give us some money for the little one and also a round of cupcakes. It was very sweet of them and I promised to bring the baby back for everyone to see.

So, today is my first day of relaxation. I have taken advantage of it and didn't get into the shower until noon (Did I just admit that???). I am afraid that if I don't have this baby soon I'll go crazy from being so bored so I'm trying to spread my activities or things I could so over a few day.

Be sure to keep checking our blog - this is the place where we hope to post a picture of the little bambino as soon as we can.
