Another Big Visit

Samantha started off the week climbing. We caught her on top of her changing table. Earlier in the day she had brought me several things that had been on the top of her dresser. I wondered how she had gotten them and found her little pony next to the dresser and figured she had used it to get everything. Well, that’s how she got on top of her changing table to. She pushed her pony over to it, climbed on top of its back and then basically dove onto the top shelf. From there she could play with the “aquarium” that is in her crib. I don’t know if we have it worse or Uncle Paul and Aunt Jenney. Dane is almost threee months younger than Samantha and already into things (check out the picture at www.paulbritain.com/dane).

Lately Samantha has hated to sit in her high chair but loves to feed herself using utensils. She even can use a “grown-up” spoon and fork. When Kathryn was here last week she brought a portable highchair that is like a booster chair. Samantha really liked it so this week we picked one up for her. She has always enjoyed sitting at the table with us and this is a nice compromise for everyone.

Wednesday Grandma Linda and Grandpa Willy came into town. They have been able to spend quite a bit of quality time with Samantha while they are here which includes a ton of spoiling. Samantha even got to make a trip to Toys R Us to pick out a couple of toys. Oh, that’s a big store for a little girl. Of course, the toy she really liked was the “popper”, the one dad has forbid at the house. He made her pick out at least one educational toy. Grandma Linda has put on miles following Samantha around the yard. Samantha will sure miss them while they are gone. I think we’ve all gained some weight for as many times as they’ve taken us out to eat!

On a baby note…

I had my almost 16 week appointment on Thursday. I was dreading stepping on the scale and there proved to be a reason. The nurse said, “oh, you’re tall, you’ll loose it fast” and the doctor said “well, you started off skinny.” There was about a week or so where I just couldn’t get enough to eat. Luckily that’s slowed down and hopefully I won’t gain so much weight in the future. The baby is doing well, measuring right where it should and the heart rate was about 150 bpm. Our next appointment will be October 18 and we will find out the sex of our little bambino then.

Lots of Activity

It may sound very crazy but we’ve moved to the other half of our duplex. Many people have asked if it’s bigger and it’s not-just updated. Gone are the days of teal carpet and teal striped wallpaper. Now we have beige Berber carpet and white walls. Most of all, we have a very large beautiful deck for Samantha to play on. This was one of the biggest motivators to move. The move transpired the first week of September. We were thrilled that Grandma B called two weeks beforehand and informed us that she was coming to help! Even though the move was just across the hall we couldn’t have done it without her. She not only helped move and settle us in but also distracted and played with Samantha quite a bit of the time which is a big help in itself. We are now settled and enjoying our new “pad”.

While here, Grandma B (Samantha calls her Bee Bee) taught Samantha to shake hands and also to pat her chest when she coughs. It’s really cute to watch her. While we were out and about last week a lady bent down to talk to Samantha and Samantha held out her hand for the lady to shake.

Grandma B got to experience a consignment sale while she was here too. It was a huge help to me as she kept Samantha occupied while I was able to look through the clothes. We were able to pick up Samantha several things and even came home with two “new” toys.

We are happy to report that we finally have a new tooth. All of a sudden her front bottom left tooth popped up. I’m terrible at telling which tooth is coming in when and I kept on thinking she was working on those two year molars. She had two good nights of sleep and is back to getting up at least once. Oh well, we enjoyed those couple of nights.

We took a family day this week and headed to the zoo. We actually only had a couple of hours together but we enjoyed it. It was the first time dad has been able to go to the zoo with us so we enjoyed showing him around. It seemed Samantha especially enjoyed the monkeys.

Today, Sunday, Samantha enjoyed a girls only outing. It was the yearly polo match at Bendabout Farm and we were happy that Christy and Kathryn wanted to go this year. Poor dad had to work so he missed out. Samantha enjoyed watching the ball go up and down the field and watch the fast horses. They only got real close a couple of times. During the intermission they brought out a couple of beautiful horses to pull a carriage. Samantha got to pet these large horses and while there we learned that they were bred and brought over directly from Holland!

And on a baby note….I’m headed to the doctor’s this week for my monthly check-up. I’m now 15 weeks along and feeling about 25+. I’ve already outgrown some jeans—my skinny jeans. I’m now working on outgrowing my other ones. A lady in Samantha’s Sabbath School didn’t know I was pregnant and overheard me talking about it. She said that she had noticed a small bump on me and wondered if it was a baby bump. Although my appetite is still very strong I have slowed down a bit from a couple of weeks ago.

A Quick Late Post

I'm making this short as the post is already late and tonight it's late:)

Here are two quick things from Samantha:
1. When she sees a picture of herself she says "me!"
2. Samantha can walk backwards if she wants to.
Now, here are some pictures...
