A Picture Blog

Not much to write about this week. If I remember right, it was a fairly quiet week.

We Samantha's 18 month pictures taken a couple of weeks ago. These are some of the best pictures she's taken yet. I got them scanned tonight so I thought I'd share them with you...

Here is Samantha sportin' a jogging suit...

And she just won't leave this swimming suit off. She pulled it out today as I was looking through her clothes...

And here is a couple of pictures of our little boy...

Another Grandparent Visit

We were so happy that the Britain grandparents were able to come and visit us. It was especially nice that they were able to come a couple of days earlier than planned so that they could watch Samantha while we went to our "big" ultrasound Thursday.

Samantha had such a good time with both Papa and BeBe. We didn't even do any big activities but she just enjoyed them taking her outside, reading books with her, etc. They must have worn her out as the Renfro grandparents did because she took three naps on Monday.

We have another busy week planned. There are several appointments scheduled, including her 18 month check-up today and then a consignment sale on Thursday. I don't think we'll need much for the little boy but we may just have to go check out the boy things anyways:) I think the idea that we're having a boy is just starting to sink in.

We celebrated BeBe's birthday while she was here. Samantha loved the cupakes!

Oh Boy, Oh Boy

We just wanted to let everyone know that we had our "big" ultrasound today. I am 19 week and 3 days along and our little one measured right on so it doesn't look like we'll be changing the due date.

We know the big question for everyone is what is the sex. There is no doubt that we're having a BOY! I think we were both a little surprised and happy to see him. He is weighing about 10 ounces and is looking very healthy. All of his bones, abdomen and brain measurements were great. We were able to see the heart beating, his bladder, arms, feet, etc.

We aren't definite on a name. We have one that we may use but are looking at all options just to be sure.

Check back on Sunday for our weekly update and pictures.

We had an unusual but nice week of Samantha sleeping in. It meant that we missed a couple of days of walking but at this point in my life, sleep sounds much better! We slept in until almost nine a couple of days this week and took great naps. I am not counting this pattern staying around but it was sure nice while it lasted.

Speaking of naps, Samantha has been taking only one nap now for over a month. It got to the point where she was going to bed at 10:00 or 10:30 and it was just too late, she needed more sleep. She tends to take her nap between 12 noon and 1:00 and then sleep for about and hour-and-a-half. This means that she goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 giving me an hour or so to get the house back in order for the next day. This transition has seemed to find her in a good mood more of the time and she is really ready for bed when the time comes. We’ve also solidified our routine of bath, milk and three books. She sometimes asks for more than three books but she knows I won’t read any more to her.

Just in the last week Samantha has taken her independence a bit further and insists on putting on her shoes herself. Who cares if they get on the right foot or not! I’m very proud of her, she does a great job of it.

She keeps on working on her molars and I see progress coming on them. Maybe someday soon we can report that she’s gotten them.

On a baby note…we go for our “big” ultrasound this Thursday and yes, we’re going to find out the sex of the baby. Papa and Be Be were coming down for the weekend so we asked them to come a couple of days early so that they could watch Samantha for us. It sounded like a great excuse to get them down here earlier! We’re excited for their arrival and the ultrasound.

I tried putting away some old books but Samantha got to them before I could. Of course, they were all "new" again...

To the Apple Orchard

Tuesday found us heading to an apple orchard with Kathryn and her mom, Christy. We were to meet some friends from Atlanta there also. The trip took about an 1 1/2 hours but it went fast because both girls fell asleep and were ready for the orchard when we got there.

While there we had a very good time visiting the petting zoo and the playground. I think the favorite part of her day was the slide that I took her down. It was at the top of a very steep hill and she climbed all the way to the top just to slide down again.

Unfortunately the picking season was over but we bought a peck of apples to bake with. On the way home both girls again fell asleep. It was a big day but we had such a good time spending it with friends. Thanks Christy and Kathryn for inviting us to go along.

If Samantha were able to really understand we would send her a huge thanks. Wednesday turned about to be a huge day for us. Samantha and I spent the morning at mom's group after getting up early to meet a delivery truck at our spec house. After our play date and a nap we headed back out to the house to lay sod. Samantha played by herself outside all day (we're talking 6+ hours) while we laid sod. Dad really took the brunt of it as he put down at least 7 pallets. We were both amazed at how well she did and was able to entertain herself all afternoon. She was a big trooper!

Sunday Christopher and his mom, Aimee invited us to go to a Ronald McDonald fundraiser. It was really a small fair for kids. Most of the things were for kids older than Samantha but it was fun to spend time with Christopher and Aimee. Samantha did enjoy one big bouncy blowup that was just her size. We all enjoyed a yummy supper afterwards of pizza.

And on a baby note...The little one just continues to grow and grow. I keep wanting the weather to cool down so that I can actually wear some bigger clothes. I am getting really close to needing them desperately. I am a bit more tired lately but nothing I can't handle.

Here are some pictures...

Busy Still

It seems our life hasn't slowed down any like we thought it might. Samantha and I have been spending a lot of time outside. She absolutely loves to be outside, especially playing on the swingset in the yard. She climbs to the top of the tower and wants to throw rocks down through the slats. Eventually she'll slide down the slide and want to do it all over again. We've collected rocks, pine cones, acorns and sticks to put in her little bucket. I think collecting these things helps her remember what they all are.

Our little girl is doing much better at a couple of things. She never stayed in the cart when shopping and I was really frustated every time we went. I finally told Travis that I wasn't going without him. He's gone along ever since to keep her sitting down. Tonight I tackled the grocery store by myself and she sat the entire time. What an accomplishment. Samantha also has learned to stay put during church too.

I've mentioned before that Samantha has learned to climb onto her changing table. She knows that after a bath it's time for a diaper and pajamas. Tonight after her bath I reminded her it was time to get her diaper on. The next thing I know she's in her room climbing onto her changing table and laying down. I thought it was adorable!

Here are a few pictures from our latest adventures:
