Library Summer Reading

I enrolled the kids in the Bonner Springs Summer reading program.  They each could get 6 prizes and then they will be given stickers and enter into a raffle.

Well, they each have gotten all of their prizes and are onto the raffle section.  They enjoyed all of their prizes, especially a free Dairy Queen!

The last prize they got was a t-shirt and their certificate that they completed the program.

Good job guys!

Dress Up

The kids have been playing dress-up a bit more, especially in our clothes.  Once day I caught them playing and thought they looked adorable.....

Let's Play Ball!

It's baseball time again at Midland.  Blake has been excited to start playing baseball this Summer and Samantha agreed once more to play.

The kids love the smaller teams this year because they get to bat a bit more.  I think it's great experience for them and also gives them a chance to see some of their friends over the Summer.

Memorial Day

Although I only have one picture of this, we had a great time.

My friend, Rhonda invited us to go to Union Station with them on the Sunday before Memorial Day and listen to the Symphony and watch the fireworks.  We picked up a pizza on the way down and were there in plenty of time to visit and listen to the great music.

The weather was perfect for being outside and the kids enjoyed playing around.  The live cannons scared them a bit but they were warned early that the noise would be loud.

They also enjoyed the fireworks despite an ember falling on Blake and myself.

It was terribly late when we got home as we expected it would be but I can't wait to do it again next year!

Mom's Gone and the Kids Have Fun

The end of May I took a few days to spend with my parents and help with friend's wedding.  I was able to fly home and leave the kids at home with Travis and his parents.

I was so thankful that his parents were able to come and help, because without them I'm not sure could have gone.

While I was gone, the kids were spoiled!  Grandma took them to Deanna Rose Farm on Friday and they did all kinds of activities.  On Sunday they attended the "Day Out with Thomas" in Baldwin City.  This is an annual event for us and I'm sad I missed it.  I heard that this year they actually rode Thomas as we haven't in the past.

Poor Grandma got a cold at the end of her time and I'm sure the kid wore her out.

I had a great time in Wisconsin and was happy to see Shanell and her husband, Carl get married.

Getting a tattoo.

Always have to stand with Sir Topham Hat!

Here comes Thomas.

Waiting patiently.

On Thomas and ready to go.

Mom and I at the wedding.

The happy couple.

Kindergarten Graduation

Samantha's Kindergarten Graduation was held on Thursday, May 24.  We had worked hard to get to that day as they were to come in a costume depicting what they wanted to do when they grew up and Samantha wants to be a Marine Biologist.

Travis really made her a cool scuba outfit and she was happy with.  We even got her an inflatable dolphin to carry with her..

Ms. Wallace, her teacher led the children in songs, chants and cheers.  It was a very spiritual based program and that's exactly why we send our kids to Midland!

Travis's parents were able to join us for the program and following it, out to eat the Fritz's per Samantha's choice.

It was a great and special day for her.

KC Wolf

It was Nursing Week at Travis' facility and they had invited KC Wolf of the Chiefs to come into the facility and greet the residents.  Travis invited Blake to come and see him also.  KC Wolf was more than hospitable.  He picked Blake right up and let me take a pictures then autographed a picture for Blake.

KC Wolf was great with the residents as well!

Samantha Ending Eager Beavers

Samantha completed her second and final year of Eager Beavers in May.  As tradition, they ended the year with investiture along with the Adventures and Pathfinders.  Our church, Chapel Oaks, has over 100 kids enrolled in all three programs.  What a wonderful way to teach kids about Jesus!

She has earned many "chips" to fill her scarf up and in August will be starting Adventures.

Blake Is Playing Baseball

This is the first year that Blake has been able to play baseball during our June little league.  He's pretty excited and does quite well at it.  His helmet is a bit big that he has to hang onto it but he loves it anyways.

(Life in the outfield can be a bit boring)
