15 Weeks Old

This week Samantha went to her Dad's second softball game. She slept through part of it but enjoyed watching her Dad get a nice couple of hits and catches.

We enjoyed several people visiting us this week. Christy stopped over to see Samantha and so did Tom, Deanna, Kaitlynn and Preston McDonald. We always love visitors!

Samantha loves to look at herself in the mirror. We set it up often now so that she can look at herself during tummy time and while she is playing on her back.

Eating time has become a new thing lately. Samantha has discovered that she can try to hang onto the bottle herself and her Dad says that its become a wrestling match. Sometime she gets her hands into her mouth instead of her bottle.

14 Weeks Old

This week has been a fairly quiet week at the Renfro household although we did entertain several times.

Samantha has just been keeping both of her parents busy. It seems she is going through what we hope is just a phase of wanting to be held quite a bit. Its kept us both on the go and tired.

Sunday we spent the day with Scott and Christy. During that time Samantha once again rode in her carrier. We faced her out so that she could see everything and she did much better.

Samantha has been sleeping in her crib for several weeks now. I was quite reluctant to put her in there because I was afraid I wasn’t going to hear her. Well, I’ve heard every thing since she’s been put in there. She does quite well in her own room.

13 Weeks Old

I always thought that babies were supposed to sleep, sleep and sleep. Well, our baby doesn’t sleep like she is supposed to. She has power napped from the beginning and takes only 30+- minute naps during the day unless someone is holding her or very near her. Lately Samantha and I have been taking naps together and we have both been feeling a lot better because of it. These naps usually go for about two hours. She just loves being very close to her parents. We’ve been told she’s spoiled.

It is recommended that you lay your baby down before he/she is totally asleep so that they learn how to put themselves to sleep. Yeah right. Samantha has never been able to do that. In fact, she must be totally asleep before we lay her down or it’s all over. She does what her Dad and I have termed “playing possum.” She has her eyes barely open and is barely awake. Awake enough to know what is going on around her. At this point if we lay her down she comes too and lets us know about it. We both have spent quite a bit of time in the rocker until her eyes are sealed tight.

We are noticing changes in Samantha quite often and it’s so much fun. She is beginning to reach for things and hold them in her hand. She also props herself up on her elbows during tummy time and is trying to roll over both ways. Tummy time is getting much easier and she is able to go for longer periods of time.

Travis’ work schedule has changed again that he works 14 hour days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then he’s home Thursday and Friday. All of us are enjoying this schedule. Travis loves the additional time he gets to spend with his girls and I love the extra help. We don’t know how permanent this schedule is but we are loving it now.

3 Months Old!

Today, Samantha is officially 3 months old! In some ways the time has gone by extremely fast and in other ways the time has gone by extremely slow:)

We celebrated the 4th of July twice this year. We attended a potluck supper with our Sabbath School group on the 3rd-when Collegedale does their fireworks. We skipped the fireworks but heard them from our house. In fact, Samantha was fast asleep at 9:45, very early for her, when our landlord popped off several fireworks so it was actually 11:00 when we got to bed again. We spent the actual 4th with a walk in the mall and then that evening we went to supper with the Esteps. When we finished, Travis watched the fireworks that their neighbor set off-Samantha wasn't a fan of the noise, especially because she was sleepy so we spent the time inside.

We attempted to get her 3 month pictures taken Sunday (the picture here was actually taken at home). We knew it was going to be difficult and although we tried very hard to time it carefully she was not her best. We got a couple of good shots and she ended up falling alseep near the end of her session so we got a couple of shots of her sleeping.

12 Weeks Old

Again this week we are deeply indebted to our friends Dale and Abbe. They were gracious to watch Samantha while we went out and celebrated our anniversary. It was especially nice of them being that they had hosted a shower beforehand and we left her there even while people were still there. We will have to repay the favor soon.

We are sure Samantha will be a thumb sucker, despite the fact that it drives her Mom up a wall. Every chance she gets she sucks on her fist and we're convinced that if she could find her thumb (and it were big enough) she would suck on it instead. We try to give her the pacifer whenever we catch her.

Samantha has started to grow out of some of her clothes. Even though she is becoming a cute chubby baby (she has dimples in places people normally don't) she is growing them out lengthwise too. We've washed up all the 3-6 month clothes for her to start wearing.
