We had yet another busy week at our house.
Sunday we were invited to a post-Valentine party where Samantha got the decorate cookies. She really enjoyed that. From there we went to Ian's first birthday party and of course, the kids enjoyed that too.
Monday we were invited to Kathryn's house for a play date. Christy volunteered her services so that Travis and I could go out to eat by ourselves and we took her up on it. Poor Samantha did not want us to leave. She ran to the door as I was leaving screaming "moooommmmy!" Of course, it broke my heart but Christy called a few minutes later confirming that everything was okay. We are so appreciative of her offer and generosity of her time.
Tuesday we were invited to Mindi's for an Usbourne party and play time. The kids again enjoyed playing with other kids.
Wednesday we actually stayed home all day. We played in doors, made a tent and had tea, etc. It was our one day we didn't have anything planned.
Thursday brought us back to the library and story time and then the weekend.
I forgot to write last week that Samantha had gotten gum stuck in her hair. We were on our way back from visiting Travis and she apparently took it out to take a drink. I pulled over and got most of it out and we finished getting it out at home. I was so relieve to get it out because she would have gotten a very short haircut:)
This week Samantha surprised us by practically spelling her name. She spells it "samtha". She keeps on forgetting to say the middle a and n. Oh well, it's a big name and it will come soon enough.
Blake has slept really well this past week. I know just writing this will make it all change but I haven't slept so hard at night in ages and it's felt great! It has been allowing me to be up before the kids and get a shower in at least.
When Blake was born my parents got him a swaddle blanket because when Samantha was born it was hard to find one. Once they learned that he was using it every night they bought us a couple more. It is from Swaddle Designs and it's the only baby gift I give now. Anyways, he's adopted these as his blanket. It can sooth him when he's crying and he has to have one when he's going to sleep. I am so thankful he isn't particular to just one but will take any of the three.

The other day at nap time Samantha asked if she could sleep in Blake's bed. Because he wasn't going to and I just wanted her to sleep I agreed and she went right to sleep!

I bought Samantha this cute little form for her room and put a new dress on it just for the fun of it. It had been up on her dresser but she asked for it to be moved beside her bed. I think these pictures are cute because it kind of looks like she's dreaming of her dress...

She had been asleep and when Travis stepped into the room to take the picture she opened the eyes and this is the shot we got.

We started out week with a trip to Travis' work. We hadn't been there in probably a month so it was nice to go visit him. We are meeting him a bit earlier in the day which makes it easier to get back and get naps in, etc.
I was a bit under the weather on Monday afternoon and Tuesday so we didn't go far from the house. By Wednesday I was feeling better so we headed out to our weekly play date. It's always fun to get out and play with friends!
Samantha and I baked cookies this week. I know I've said it before, but she is constantly asking me to make something. She asks to help make lunch and supper. She also likes to fold laundry and today asked me to wait for her to finish her lunch so that she could help me. I can't wait until she can do these herself:)
Samantha struggled this week with being grumpy. I am not sure what to attribute it to-just plain grumpiness or if she was tired or maybe needed some extra TLC. To try to compensate for it we spent as much time outside this week as possible. We fed our neighbors horses, played in the swing set, etc. Once she got out she was generally in a much better mood.
This week Samantha and I taught Blake how to give five. I think he loves the reaction he gets when give hits our hand but nonetheless, he does it.
Blake got another tooth this week which brings his total to 5. His other tooth on the top is close to coming in.
We got out a push walker for Blake this week and unless he runs into something he can get around quite well. It's just another way for him to practice his walking skills.
We're anticipating another busy week and hopefully a healthy, happy one too!
Sabbath we were able to enjoy a walk on the Greenway. This was Blake's second time in the swing and he liked it a lot better this time...

This past week was pretty much back to normal. Blake finished his medications and is doing quite well. Samantha has a nasty cough that I am continuing to watch and make sure it doesn't get any worse.
Last Sabbath Blake started to wave. He waved to me on Sabbath and then has waved several times since. One morning he waved to Travis after he closed the door. It's still very sporadic but I know he can:)
On Tuesday he started to throw a ball. It's still quite inconsistent whether it ends up in front of him, beside him or behind him but he is enjoying it. He also likes to roll the ball between us.
Blake's appetite has come back to. He is back to enjoying more solids and feeling himself. This week he's eating avocado's, bananas, tofu, Cheryls' burgers, hash browns, rice casserole, Spanish rice and Little Links.
Last Thursday started library story time for Samantha again. With Blake being sick I asked Miss Gloria to come and watch Blake. She is our good friend Cheryl's mom. I was a bit nervous leaving him just because he's been quite attached lately but he didn't cry one bit and she even got him to sleep when I wasn't expecting him to take a nap! It went so well that I've asked him to come every Thursday so that Samantha and I can have some special time together and Blake can get used to having a babysitter occasionally. I look forward to spending the time with Samantha because we rarely get mom and daughter time.
Samantha realized that in a couple of months she'll be three. She has mastered putting up three fingers and tells us often that she's going to be three. She can also show us two and four and thinks it's great.
We had a full weekend with friends and we spent some time outside enjoying the gorgeous weather. It makes us look forward to Spring even more!
Samantha LOVES to cook and bake. She asks me every other day to bake something. Here we splurged and licked off the spatula from a yummy frosting.

Blake really enjoys getting his teeth brushed...

We've started to call Blake "Houdini in the Highchair" because every time you put him in there it isn't long and he's twisted himself around and into a standing position...
