1 Week Old

As many new parents have already attested, the first week goes by fast. We can’t believe Samantha is already 1 week old!

We’ve learned a lot this week. We are no pros yet but we are working at it. Her Dad has simply jumped right in with a hands on approach to her. He has truly fallen head over heals with her and is extremely sensitive to her. It killed him to have her bilirubin checked as she was screaming at the top of her lungs. When he walks in at night it’s no longer about her Mom but it’s all about Samantha.

Her favorite position is in her Dad’s chest while she’s sleeping. She falls right asleep listening to his heartbeat and all snuggled up warm against his chest.

She had to have her bilirubin checked a couple of times being that it was a bit high when we left the hospital on Wednesday but after checking it on Friday and Saturday she was declared o.k. On her first doctor visit on Friday was weighed 6 lbs, 13 oz but on Saturday she had gained a couple of ounces back.

We did have a couple of rough nights and have learned that she isn’t a very sound sleeper but we are working on all of that.

We are very proud of our beautiful girl and are enjoying every minute we spend with her and every new thing she does.
