Week 26

This has turned out to be a very busy “baby” week as I look over it. We decided that after Christmas we needed to really focus on getting ready for the baby. This week we registered at Babies-R-Us and Target. We need to finish up with a few things at Babies-R-Us but for the most part we are done. I thought registering would be so much fun and it was but really, what do you need for a baby? It can be kind of overwhelming! I am sure that I forgot to register for something.

We are very fortunate that we have a lot of the “major” things. We really only need a cradle mattress and car seat to bring the baby home. Of course, we need a crib, changing table, etc. but we could get by if we needed to. Hopefully we won’t have to though as we’re probably going to get the crib this week. I am definitely in the “nesting” mode.

I also signed us up for some classes at the hospital. We will go through a child birth education class, a breastfeeding class and a tour of the hospital. All of these will happen in February.

By this week our little one probably weights about 1 ½ to 2 lbs. The fingerprints and footprints are formed and the eyes have developed fully although they probably won’t open until a couple of weeks. The eyebrows and eyelashes have also fully formed along with the hair on it’s body is getting longer and more plentiful.
