Week 31

Our baby is growing! Although we’ve been able to feel and see the baby move for some time this week we can feel parts – not sure what parts but they are parts such as a hand or foot. Although it may sound silly, this makes this little thing inside me seem more real. Last night a little hand or foot was right up near my rib cage and kind of pushing up but nothing painful.

Monday night we had our first childbirth education class. Actually, the only other class we are taking is a breastfeeding class in March. This was a one-night concentrated class and it basically covered the phases of labor, what a woman has to do before a baby can be born (dialate, efface, etc.), and how you can tell if you’re in active labor. We went over relaxing techniques, what the coach can do and a few breathing techniques and positions we can try during labor.

We had signed up to take a tour of the hospital this coming Sunday but we learned last night that we were actually going to take a tour then – that frees up Sunday. We saw the triage room, the labor rooms which we will stay in and other essentials like the Jacuzzi and kitchen. They even furnish a little refrigerator in our room so we can bring snacks! They encourage the dad’s to stay right with the mom and offer them a futon type bed - Travis has decided that he will stay with me and the baby.

Tuesday night was another baby focused night as my friend Abbe asked me up to go to a consignment sale. She has things there and gets a free pass to take someone with her. She was great and let me look over things before she took them down and I found a few cute things that she generously gave us like onesies, sleepers, socks, and bottles.

Our last baby task this week is to find a car seat –specifically one that will fit in our car. I’m still debating between a plain car seat or the stroller/car seat combo. If you have a preference – let us know!

The day after my 3 hour glucose test, Dr. Radpour's nurse called to let me know I passed! It was a huge relief and I listened to the message a couple of times just to make sure I heard it correctly.

Last week’s appointment went well. The baby’s heart rate was between 140-150. I’ve decided Dr. Radpour never takes an “accurate” count as it’s always an even number by 10’s.

My next appointment is next week and I’ll already be 32 weeks – time is marching on fast!
